Advancing Circular Solutions for Plastic Waste in Construction
As part of the Inogen Alliance Annual Associates Meeting, our colleagues Annika Taylor and Peter Ramsay visited CRDC Materials in Costa Rica, a global leader in sustainable building technologies. CRDC Materials has developed a patented process that transforms low-value plastics, traditionally destined for landfills, into RESIN8®; a mineral-polymer additive that enhances concrete and asphalt performance.
Through this innovation:
✅ Over 1.2 million cinder blocks are produced monthly
✅ Operations span Costa Rica, South Africa, the U.S., and Australia
✅ 100% of recovered plastic waste is restored to use in valuable new products
By converting plastic waste into durable construction materials, CRDC Materials is setting a benchmark for environmental, social, and economic impact. As global demand for sustainable infrastructure grows, solutions like RESIN8® illustrate that addressing plastic pollution is not only possible, it is scalable and commercially viable. The future of construction is circular, and CRDC Materials is leading the way.
